So what does this site do exactly?

This site allows people to share which actors they would pick to play roles in whatever book, game, comic, roleplay group, dorm floor, workplace etc. they want. Visitors can comment on lists and logged in users can vote on individual casting picks. If several people create public cast lists for a story, that story will show up on the "Top Picks" page and display the actor picks ranked by votes.

I don't really know a lot of actors.

"Find An Actor" was built specifically for that. :) For example, if you needed to find a guy with red hair, you would check the "Sex - Male" and "Hair - Red" attributes and see what comes up. You can assign attributes to actors when adding them to cast lists.

The actor I'm looking for isn't in here.

How to add an actor

The Casting Game is powered by data from themoviedb.org. They give their users the ability to log in and add movies and actors. So if you need to enter someone new, you can:

  1. Create an account on themoviedb.org and log in
  2. Add or find a movie the actor is in
  3. Click the little pencil to edit the cast. You may have to click a *tiny* green plus to add an actor after that
  4. Enter the actor and their character name
  5. Click "Not found (click to create)" in the search box
  6. Click "Add"
  7. You can add a photo after that by searching for that actor and clicking the *tiny* green plus next to "Profile" above where the main profile photo would go

Your actor will now be in the database! It may take a minute or two for it to show up in the search on the cast actor form.

My actor doesn't have a photo and/or these actor photos are lame. Can there be better photos?

How to add a photo

The photos currently available all come from themoviedb.org. So if you want to add a new photo, you can:

  1. Create an account on themoviedb.org and log in
  2. Search for the actor
  3. Click the *tiny* green plus next to "Profile" above the main profile photo
  4. Select a photo to upload

Your photo will now be in the database! Please respect photo copyrights. Photos may not be deletable once uploaded.
